Number of incidents of non-compliance with regulations and voluntary codes concerning the health and safety impacts of products and services
There were no significant breaches of safety or health regulations in relation to our products at Symrise in 2014.
In December 2013, Stiftung Warentest rated a product from Ritter Sport as “poor” as it was deemed to have been falsely labeled. Stiftung Warentest claimed that they had found the chemically manufactured aromatic substance piperonal in the Ritter Sport product and therefore its labeling as a “natural flavor” was incorrect and the Ritter Sport product was not suitable for sale. Symrise had supplied the flavor in question for the Ritter Sport product. The claims from Stiftung Warentest were, however, incorrect. The labeling of the flavor used in the Ritter Sport product as well as of the product itself were and are correct and valid. Stiftung Warentest was prohibited from making, repeating or disseminating such assertions by the Higher Regional Court in Munich in its final decision in 2014.
